How likely to put on my Winchester Model 70 308?

Hello. I got this Winchester Model 70 .308 rifle as a gift and I do not know anything about it. I know the history of the Model 70 and all that, but I do not know the year was made or the price they can afford. Weaver has a range of it and want to get rid of it. I went to the range of a few days ago and scope hardly helped. (I tried rounds with the scope and without it) I'm looking to spend $ 100 - $ 200 on a decent level and I've heard to go with Nikon Prostaff, Bushnell Legend, and some others like Simmons, Tech Sight, Barks and Alpine. The Nikon Prostaff scope is very good for 0308. There was one in my model 742 Remington .30-06 until I sold the rifle. I then mounted the same scope on my savage model 12FLV 0.22 to 250. He gave me the scope to my cousin and his father has in his Remington .30-06. When I said zero well in both rifles was underway. My cousin just paid $ 150 for the same one you mentioned. I also like to see the Leupold VX-1, VX-2 and Rifleman ... Everyone in the 3-9x40mm. Very nice areas. Leupold scopes have lifetime warranty. Now I have a Leupold Rifleman 3-9x40mm mounted on my .22-250, hoping to upgrade to a VX-3. I had a Winchester Model 70 7 mm a Leupold VX-1 mounted. Primo has a VX-2 mounted in .204 Ruger. What I like Leupold areas, with stunning crystal clarity and eye relief. Nikon glass is good, but check out a Nikon and a Leupold together and you'll understand what I mean. I paid $ 199 for Leupold Rifleman 3-9x40mm at Cabela's. The Leupold VX-1 will cost about $ 200 - $ 219. The Leupold VX-2 will cost more, but well worth the money, $ 300. I would shop around, however, Cabela tends to be more expensive. I was desperate for a better reach, then reach central point I had in my .22-250. I'm not familiar with areas such as technical or the Alps. So I can offer my opinion on these areas. I've heard nothing but bad reviews in the areas BARSKA, so would be avoided. Both at the Bushnell and Simmons are the decent areas. A cousin has a Simmons riding his 0308 model 742 Remington, which makes it good. A friend has a dusk to dawn Bushnell scope of his Remington 700 220 Swift. Also did well. Whatever you do. Do not cut corners to buy a space for your rifle. You really do get what you pay for.
