Nikon D90 and IR photography?

I currently have an S5IS and I'm using an infrared filter hoya rm72. I love it, but I am considering buying a D90, but still want to be able to IR with a filter (not to convert). Have you taken infrared photos with D90 or know if you can do with the filter, as with my camera? I know that some have hot spots or just not very well pick up infrared. How about this?

The D90 is a camera sensitive to IR, like the S5IS is not a camera infrared. You will have the same very long exposures requiring a tripod.
