Is the Nikon D60 digital Slr Camera for beginners?

I've been using a point and shoot all my life and I think it's time for a change .. What are the differences between a D40 and D60? If I get the D60, so the lenses are best for a beginner? On the other hand, are the books of tutorial on using a D60 any good? Thanks for all your help!

If you're looking for an easy to use digital SLR to take great pictures and can afford then buy. I would definitely recommend D40 over D60 unless you save a couple hundred dollars or more.
