Canon Rebel XSi, XT, or XTi?

I am about to finish my associates degree, and I will be transferring into a B.F.A. program in Photography. I’ve only been working with 35mm film, and I want to get started with digital. What would be the best camera to get for the value? I don’t want to spend much, but I still want a good quality camera good enough for a student on the way to professional photography. Thank you.

I’d go for XSi. Believe someone who made this mistake, get the best camera you can with your money. Don’t buy an XT because you’ll save a $100 over an XSi; you’ll regret it later, as I did with the exact same camera choices as you have. However, if you are looking into getting into professional photography, leave the Rebel series behind and get a 60D or a 7D. A very popular, and quite pricey, model favored my professionals and amateurs alike is the 5D Mk II. Yet, most importantly as gear goes, the lens is for more important than the body, so invest in the lens first and the body later.
