Do you charge an iPod in a case or skin actually lower the battery?

I read in an official FAQ apple charging an ipod in a case may reduce battery life. I have a third generation ipod touch and have been carrying on skin since I have it. It seems that such a nuisance having to remove the case every time I post. this really gets off the battery?

perhaps not at first, but eventually it will. like they said after 400 charges that will have 80% of your original battery life. Also if you look at the generation additional heat while charging then you might want out of the box
